Web and Online Systems Developer


Job Summary

The KENILWORTH MEDIA Web & Online Systems Developer is responsible for the design, redesign, and upkeep of web pages for all company website. Position reports directly to Vice President of Information Technology Services. This position could be for a 6-month contract leading to permanent full time, depending on the candidate.

Job Description

  • Create, update, and maintain content of KENILWORTH MEDIA.
  • Develop and maintain websites for other entities within KENILWORTH MEDIA.
  • Add creative and innovative components to KENILWORTH MEDIA websites, including use of style sheets. Keep the web sites compatible with the latest versions (and some older versions) of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla/Netscape, Safari, and Opera on multiple platforms (PC and Mac).
  • Create new designs where called for.  Enforce content formatting, image treatment, and design consistency.
  • Work with the KENILWORTH MEDIA Sales or Production Coordinators to oversee the update of the Magazine issues online, including calendar and feature stories, on a timely basis.
  • Work with KENILWORTH MEDIA IT Support as necessary.
  • Carry out tasks assigned by manager.
  • Complete small projects as assigned.
  • Review and adhere to conditions as stated in the Employment Handbook.
  • Interact with external web consultants/ developers as required.
  • Monitor site statistics.  Monitor disk space, errors, hosting company notices, etc.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with PC and Macintosh computers.
  • Extremely proficient in the following:
    1. OS Environments: Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, IIS
    2. Web Languages: CSS, HTML, XHTML, Javascript
    3. Development Applications: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash/Actionscript
    4. SS Languages: MySQL, PHP, Java, Perl
    5. Frameworks: Backbase, jQuery
  • Other Applications: Joomla!, PHPMyAdmin, OpenX, Google Analytics
  • Good visual design skills, creativity and ideas.

General / Business Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both verbal and written) and to function in a professional and polite manner in dealing with KENILWORTH MEDIA clientele, staff and suppliers.
  • Very close attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed: We need people who will proactively tackle challenges.
  • Adapts well to frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Ability to focus and adhere to deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment to produce results quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) and related work experience. Minimum 2-5 years experience with web development.
